The study says that listening to music for 30 minutes every day can keep your heart healthy

Listening to music for 30 minutes every day may be good for your heart because researchers have found that patients who suffered an episode of chest pain immediately after a heart attack were known to have early postnatal angina. He used to have a very low level of anxiety and pain.

New studies suggest that music combined with standard therapies such as medicines can be a simple, accessible solution that patients can do at home to help reduce these symptoms and prevent later heart events.

“Based on our findings, we believe that music therapy can help all patients after a heart attack, not patients with early post-infarction angina. It is very easy and inexpensive to implement, ”said the study's lead author, Pragram Mitrovich, professor at the University of Belgrade in Serbia.

For the findings, the researchers recruited 350 patients at a medical center in Serbia to diagnose heart attacks and early postnatal angina.

Half were randomly assigned to receive standard treatment while half were assigned to regular music sessions in addition to standard treatment.

According to the researchers, patients receiving music therapy first performed a test to determine which music style their bodies were likely to respond to positively.

Participants listened to nine 30-second samples of music that they found pleasing, while researchers assessed each participant's body for automatic, involuntary responses to music samples based on students' laxity or narrowness.

Patients continued with these daily sessions for seven years, documenting their sessions in a single session.

At the end of seven years, music therapy was found to be more effective than standard treatment alone in terms of reducing anxiety, pain sensation, and pain distress.

Patients on music therapy have, on average, one-third less anxiety than standard treatment, and about one-quarter have reported symptoms of angina.

The rate of some heart conditions was also significantly lower in these patients, including an 18% decrease in heart failure rate; 23% lower rate of heart attack; 20% lower rate of need for coronary artery bypass graft surgery; And, a 16% lower rate of cardiac death.

According to researchers, music can work by helping to combat sympathetic nervous system activity, the part of the nervous system that drives a "fight-or-flight" response when a person encounters a stressful situation.

Because it increases heart rate and blood pressure, a sympathetic response can put additional pressure on the cardiovascular system, the researchers said.

Unrelated anxiety can increase the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which can lead to increased cardiac workload.

This research is to be presented at the annual scientific session of the American College of Cardiology, with the World Congress of Cardiology on March 28–30 in the US.
